MVEDC is the lead regional agency for providing direct financial support to local businesses. With a 35-year track record of mission-based accomplishments, they manage one of Ohio’s largest community-based loan funds that have provided direct financial assistance to over 1,800 businesses.

The Tech Belt Energy Innovation Center (TBEIC) was founded in 2010 with funds from the US Department of Energy, the State of ohio, and local philanthropy. Through its shared resource center and technology business incubator/accelerator, TBEIC works to increase high-impact, technology business, and career opportunity in the Mahoning Valley and Northeast Ohio. The technology incubator serves entrepreneurs seeking to develop business opportunity in energy and related technologies. The shared resource center is available to entrepreneurs and existing industry participants from those all over the country seeking access to TBEIC’s specialized equipment and infrastructure for R&D, test, and demonstration. Combining an industry-focused incubator with a unique shared technology center promotes the interaction between entrepreneurs and industry, significantly improving the odds of successful outcomes.
Recognized as the #1 University Affiliated Incubator in the World by UBII in 2014, the YBI focuses on accelerating the formation, growth, and success of technology and additive manufacturing startups in the Mahoning Valley. The YBI operates a 5 building campus in Downtown Youngstown giving is portfolio companies a physical place to call home. The YBI is also home to America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, as well as Turning Technologies, the fastest growing software company in the world and their biggest graduate portfolio company to date.
The YSU Research Foundation (YSURF) is an independent 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to assist in providing technical support services to regional clients, while working in collaboration with Youngstown State University. YSURF serves as a gateway for business and industry to engage select YSU resources for a variety of support services, technical, and otherwise. In this capacity, YSURF can access and engage university resources on behalf of external partners. YSURF offers fee-for-service technical analysis, testing and advanced manufacturing for clients, as well as management services for community initiatives, including the Mahoning Valley Innovation and Commercialization Center.
